It's been a while since I've actually written anything down here. Busy, busy, busy.
Here's a quick update on several things:
This allergy season is killing me. To death. With the stuffy face headaches. This past Sunday I woke up feeling pretty terrible, and it felt like a migraine was coming on but I tried to just lay around and rest, hoping that it would be gone by the time I had to leave for work on Monday, but nooooo, I woke up Monday morning feeling worse, and called in. I slept a lot and rested and drank a lot of water and had meds and it was not helping. Scott got home from work and gave me one of his Lorotabs, and that made it pretty bearable, and I went to bed, once again hoping that it would be gone by the time I had to get up in the morning. No such luck. It was a tiny bit better, but not by much. I sucked it up and went to work anyway, since I don't have very many sick days, and missing two days in a row leads to CHAOS. Anyway, throughout Tuesday it just kept getting worse and worse, to the point where I was almost crying at work, and I intended to stay longer, but I had to leave. It was terrible. I got home, took Lorotab AND Nyquil, and went to bed. I slept for like 12 hours. The next morning, only a tiny little bit of a headache remained. A little caffeine took care of that.
Things are hectic at work, but I've decided I'm not going to stress about it. I got a really nice bonus as a part of the new giant company's profit sharing/incentive program. Like, a really nice bonus. It feels good to be rewarded for working so hard. I'm going in in the morning, and getting what I can done, and not trying to work so quickly. Things are still getting done just as quickly, everyone's happy with my work, and I'm feeling...tranquil. Except for these damn headaches, of course.
Since I got this bonus, I decided to treat and pamper myself a little. I ordered a book and a CD I wanted from Amazon, bought a bit of fiber from my indie dyer friend, and just went and had my hair done. Like DONE done. Cut, colors, highlights, lowlights...the only thing is, the red didn't take, so I'm going back in tomorrow so she'll apply a red "kicker". I'll post a picture when it's done.
And, lastly (for now), I'll give you all an update on Scott's back issues. So if you'll remember, he had an epidural steroid injection last November. It helped immensely...for about two months. Then it wore off, and we made another appointment with the doctor. He recommended another injection, so we got it, and instead of getting better, he got worse. A LOT worse. Like, writhing in pain on the floor worse. He had pain meds, but they got to where they weren't helping him at all. The doctor thought that his discs may have ruptured, so we had another MRI, but they weren't. I suppose that's good; if they were it would have meant immediate emergency surgery. The doctor said we could try one more epidural, and if it didn't work, we'd get a referral to a neurosurgeon. Well, as you may have guessed, it didn't work. Our surgical consultation is on May 8. Until then, Scott is in so much pain that we had to switch him to different pain meds, since the Lorotab wasn't helping at all anymore. It's breaking my heart to see him hurting so much.
Sorry for the lengthy post. I'm trying to get motivated to post more often, but I just keep getting sidetracked by yarny sorts of things. Right now I'm spinning a batt that's gradiented pink to white with sparkle. I call it my Barbie batt. I'm trying a new plying technique I just learned, and I'm very happy with the results. Perhaps soon I'll post another spinning update.
Poor Scott and his back. I've been wondering how that's all been.
ReplyDeleteAllergies have been a fucking nightmare this year. NIGHTMARE. I am having significant problems and I've been on shots for three years now. This is insane. Honestly, if I hadn't been built up on my shots, I'd probably be in the hospital. My asthma is even acting up and that's been under control for a year or so now. Just insane.
